In order to improve the onboard passenger experience, certain LATAM Airlines Group subsidiaries will begin operating a second Boeing 787-9 with a completely renovated Economy cabin, with an investment of $15 million per aircraft.
The new configuration includes enhanced in-flight entertainment. Thus, economy passengers will be able to connect via Bluetooth to enjoy the largest library of content in the region with their own headphones, which includes more than 170 movies, 550 TV show episodes, 100 music albums and exclusive content from HBO Max, Paramount+ and Disney+, on 12-inch high-definition screens with touch technology.
Additionally, a new Panasonic’s Arc™ interactive 3D map was incorporated, where detailed information about monuments and streets can be obtained from the air, and thus be able to discover emblematic places in the different cities.
The LATAM group aims to bring a total of four aircraft with this new design this year, with a total investment of US$60 million.

“These enhancements highlight LATAM Group at the forefront of the region in terms of in-flight entertainment platform, to which adds this renovated cabin, which reflects the unique spirit and pride of the incredible region. It’s all about experiencing the warmth and hospitality of South America,” says Jaime Cornejo, Cabin, In-flight Entertainment and Connectivity Manager, LATAM Airlines Group.
Other new features of the new design include the incorporation of seat upholstery made from 57% recycled leather, whose production also reduces carbon emissions by up to 60% and saves up to 55% in the use of water and land.
It should be noted that while this is the second wide-body aircraft to feature seat upholstery made from recycled leather, all single-aisle aircraft in the LATAM group’s fleet already include this material in their seats.
These renovated spaces feature headrests, 6″ recline and a revamped in-flight entertainment system with 12″ screens. In addition, Economy passengers will be able to choose to travel more comfortably in the LATAM+ seats, which offer more foot space, greater recline, exclusive space for luggage, and priority boarding and disembarkation.
